Hi,
I have a new 577 board, running a Cyrix 333 (83.5mhz) and Windows 98. The system occasionally reboots for no apparent reason. I've tried 2 different Sdrams (10ns) from 2 different sellers, reformatted and reinstalled W98, tried a different video card (currently using a Diamond Stealth 2001 video w/ S3 Trio 64 chip) I was using the onboard sound, but was getting "blue screen fatal exceptions" with some games, even with the updated drivers...after disabling it, and installing a sound card, it was fine, except for still spontaneously rebooting. The Sdram that is in it now, has ran fine in my other system, which has the same model board, and an AMD 350 cpu. Other hardware on the problem computer,....Maxtor 4.3 harddrive, Eigercom 56k PCI Winmodem, BTC 1817 soundcard....Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Also, the latest BIOS has been flashed!!

Thanks

Go through your Bios to see if any "Wake-Up" settings such as LAN RTC are enabled. If so, disable it.
Power Management can also cause problems. Disabling all Power Managment settings both in the BIOS and under Windows' Control Panel Power Management icon. Use your system like this for awhile to see if it keeps the system from rebooting.

I had this happen to me. It was a bad power supply. Make sure the fan is spinning in the PS. My fan killed out, so my computer would reboot after it had been on awhile and given the PS time to get hot. Even if the fan is running, you might still have a bad PS. Hope this helps.
