I got on Xmas 2003 a brand new wireless router from a friend of mine. I set it up in 3 easy steps like it said. It's a Barricade Turbo SMC2404WBR. Everything works except I cannot buy anything on-line or go into my email at Hotmail or Earthlink. ( I can go into my Juno or Yahoo ) just not the ones previously mentioned. So I called SMC's customer service and they connected me to a service tech. I spoke to her for about 2 minutes and I knew that I would have problems understanding her. She sounded like she was from India or somewhere around that region. Anyways, I did everything she asked me to do. I went and logged in to the account page I set-up at first. She had me enable certain connections and open a couple other ports. Still nothing worked. She asked about the blinking lights and the sequence that they were lit. All were in good working order. After about 20 minutes of wasting my time with her. She apologized to me that she could not help me with my problem. But I should call someone who knows more about my wireless router! I said to her, "wait...don't you people know about my router"??? Didn't your company build it in the first place? You should have techs that know more than just certain products I told her. She just kept on suggesting that I would have better luck asking the question on a forum specifically meant for wireless routers. I just told her to "get real"! I figured that if her company built wireless boxes. They should know or have books on how to repair whatever problems a customer may ask. What a waste of time talking to that service rep. At least she coulda connected me to someone else to speak with. Oh well.....never again! :rolleyes:
