I tried the method in Tweak 3D and it didn't work and my ISP doesn't know. Can someone provide with me a way to determine what it is it?

Also, can anyone give me some good ftp sites to use to test my settings in iSpeed?

Thanks.

well, iSpeed should read your registry and tell you your MTU packet size... typically, for a modem it's recommended you drop it to 576, with MSS at 536, and everything else is pretty much exploratory...

the location I believe is for the mtu packet size is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\Net\0000\Ndi\params\IPMTU\enum

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\Class\NetTrans\0000

Default MTU size is 1500, which works great on LAN's, cable modems and anything that uses a NIC...

A good ftp site to test would be the ftp server of your ISP. It's more consistent than anything else out there.

Thanks. What size file would you recommend downloading to get a good reading?

well, try a two way route.

upload a... 1 meg file, and then redownload it (unless there's already a 1 meg file free to download).

the time it takes will give you enough time to establish an average transfer rate.
