Still the 9800 Pro. Much better card for not too much more money...

SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP -BULK -OEM (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-268&depa=0) = $212 USD shipped.

The 9600XT is a good card, but i've you got the money and play enough games to warrant the extra performance then you can't go wrong with the 9800Pro.

What brand is that? I would pay the little extra and get the one in my post above. You won't have to pay tax. It is made by Sapphire (which makes good cards), and you won't have to wait for a rebate that may never come.

Good luck! :D

another nod for the 9800pro.

I had the same question a month ago. This card is gorgeous, runs everything flawlessly. The image quality is excellent. You really can't go wrong with the 9800Pro as a HARD CORE GAMER. If you're a once in awhile gamer and don't really need max details and all eyecandy features the 9600pro or XT would work nicely.

Rebates, well, I've had pretty good luck with rebates. Heck, I'd do a rebate to save even that ~$12 difference.

It wouldn't be a $12 difference. He has to pay tax if he buys it BB. Tax is on $250 too... :D

(175.00)although not as good as a 9800 its cheaper and is a very good card. Also its mutch better than a 9600 pro I know I had one.

All the 9600 pro xt is an oc 9600 pro. Its still a great card you can also buy it on ebay a for about 120.00. Its not as fast as a 9800 or 9800 pro or a 5900xt but its cheaper and very fast for the money. Ati makes very good video cards, but for the money a regular 9600 pro or a 5900xt are the way to go on a low budget.
