my viewing area is a bit smaller than my total screen area.. is there a way to extend my viewing area to the screen edge? thanks

Unless there are some controls on the monitor itself to expand it, you might be out of luck.
I had a monitor at work that was quite old(no SVGA). It had an area all around about 1.5" that was not usable and was very annoying. I was never able to fix it-finally got a new one.
