Anyone know if the upcoming service release for Win98 will actually improve OS stability? I'm hoping its not just a collection of the garbage on the Windows Update site. How about IE5. . .does this remove the Active Desktop from Win98? It would be a godsend if it did. I don't know about the rest of you, but I want my desktop to be stable, and not "active" in any way. . . .

Agreed chadzy -

MS ruined Win98 by binding IE4 so deeply into it. I had hoped the government would make them release a version of 98 without IE4.

I played around with an early beta of IE5 and it was much faster, and it didn't seem to integrate too heavily into the OS, but who knows what it will be like on it's release date?
