Ok, I'm having a problem with FSB settings here. I'm going to use BIOS numbers here rather than numbers based on 333 FSB here...

Athlon XP 2400, Abit AT7 Max mobo, 512 stick of Corsair PC3200.

I cannot seem to get beyond 133 FSB in the BIOS without a failure to post.

I can set my RAM to 166, then I set FSB at 166, use the 5/2/1 divider to make sure AGP and PCI are at 66/33mhz. The processor is not overclocked - it's running at the stock 2000mhz

As far as I can tell I'm doing the numbers correctly, the hardware should all be fine, but I cannot get the machine to post without taking FSB back down to 133.

Now according to the mobo manual I'd see nothing to indicate that I should even be able to go above 133 FSB, but I read this site beforehand and clearly they're doing this... http://www.viperlair.com/reviews/cpu_mobo/abit/retired/at7max1.shtml - and as far as I can tell this is not considered to be an overclock with this board.

There is a remark that they had to raise the DDR voltage from 2.55 to 2.65 to "achieve full stability from the board", but I would not think a detail like this would prevent the thing from merely posting...

Anyone have any ideas what I could be missing here?

Nevermind, just found out my processor doesn't support 333 FSB.

Didn't research into this much before the purchase because I got the mobo, processor, and RAM all together for $100 from somebody who was hurting for money lol!

Just for those who may be confused by the 166MHz FSB that you tried to set in vain and the 333MHz FSB that you say the motherboard doesn't support.

The motherboard only supports a 133MHz FSB, which would give DDR266 RAM using double-data-rate technology an effective (but not actual) FSB of 266MHz.

If the board supported an FSB of 166MHz, the RAM would have an effective DDR RAM FSB of 333MHZ, which is twice 166MHz, so DDR333 RAM would be used instead of DDR266 RAM.
