I have been trying to download the latest driver for my motherboard and RAID HPT controller at just about every ABIT site around the globe. They all are dead. All I get is cannot find server responses.

Does anyone have a working link for ABIT downloads?
Thanks.

I can't give you a link without a model number.

Hi Bill:
I am using a TH7II RAID Abit motherboard.

Even though it is over 2 years old, Abit still lists it as a current product.

I did not see it listed in that link you provided.
Thanks for the courtesy.

Abit's site seems to be working OK today:

http://www.abit.com.tw/page/en/download/download_detail.php?pFILE_TYPE=Driver&pMAIN_TYPE=Motherboard&pTITLE_ON_SCREEN=TH7II-RAID&pSOCKET_TYPE=Socket+478

It's been pretty temperamental recently - I spent all yesterday trying to download a couple of manuals without any luck.

Why not get it straight from the source?

Bill:
Thanks. The High Point site works fine.
Now I just have to wait for Abit servers to go back online.

Over the past two years, I have encountered difficulty with downloading from Abit. Good company, but they lease poor remote servers.

Even with the Win XP Pro reload, the keystroke delays and mouse click screen delays remain. It makes the machine a horror to use. I am continuing my search for the solution.

One thing I noticed at Amazon.com. I was listening to some album selections and began typing an email. When the keyboard characters failed to show up on the screen, the audio from the Amazon player started rapidly repeating (like a an old record mal tracking). It seems the entire system across the board starts shuttering and lagging. Any insight here???? Thanks.

Since reinstalling Windows didn't help, you have ruled out *most* software problems. The reason that I say "most" is that if you didn't format the drive when you reinstalled, a virus will have likely survived. You must format to be sure.

The hardware issues to check are excessive heat and bad RAM:

Hi Bill:
I take the heat issue seriously however, the problem exists from the instant of a cold start up and never varies in its intensity. I believe that eliminates the heat issue.

I built this machine with 6 fans, with exhausts on the top and sides. I was very aware of heat effects while selecting components. And yes, it is noisy!

I have two Rambus memory chips. Could they have suddenly gone bad? Doesn't Windows check the parity of all memory at each start up. Is there any other way or utility to check memory?

Even as I write this reply to you, the 3-8 second delays are making typing difficult. Even when I attempt to move a window, I have to wait about 5-8 seconds and then the window suddenly moves. Really sucks.
Does anyone else have or had this problem?????? I have searched every day for solutions but have not found anything yet.

Thanks for your assitance.

Can I ask why you are selectively ignoring suggestions? Did you format the drive when you reinstalled?

Test the RAM too. The program is free. I'd rather not have to fight with you.

I could not do a complete reformat of the hard drive because Windows was so balky, it was impossible to back up critical files.

I did the semi reinstall which 'jury rigged' the O.S. so that I can at least manage it for a week or so. I have state exams next week so I cannot dedicate enough time to this sick machine. Next week I will back up as necessary, and totally reformat. I will change my Raid system from 0 +1 to just two mirrored drives.

I tested the memory with two different utilities and everything checked out.

This machine is running on crutches and operations are severly impaired. Individually tested components (Sandra 2004) test out fine. But the system is sick. You may be right about some undetected virus being embedded. All four spyware/virus/hijacker programs come up clean. Two registry cleaners have cleared the registry. No smoking gun found.
Thanks again.

Bill & others:
Please check post:

Found what appears to be the culprit slowing down my machine and causing system jitters and hesitations.
