Somehow...I don't think ActionScript is QUITE up to that task. You can't do a LOT of stuff you need to write an OS....not even close.

No no no...it doesn't have to be a standalone OS....I want to make a run on top OS....

Flash is basically a fancy design tool for websites/animations, and the ActionScript "language" it's based on doesn't even have file access routines, never mind Windows API calls and any other number of other things you'd need to do what you want.

As far as I can tell, Iceman is using ActiveX scriptlets in Flash (I really don't know the details, just know he's using ActiveX)...so evidently more is possible than I thought. However, ActiveX is REALLY being cracked down on by MS..less and less power is being given to it.

Lol, when I first read it I thought of making an OS and putting it in flash memory... THAT is certainly possible...

It wouldn't be that hard to make an OS that had its programming interface as flash/actionscript. That's kind of where M$ is heading with longhorn, only they're using DirectX.

Make an OS using flash...impossible, unless you had some kind of independent wrapper that could handle the SWF.... but then the SWF wouldn't really be an OS, would it?

Kind of like attempting to make a car out of an engine.
