Hi,
sometime ago i read a post on how to remove a dead bios chip from a mobo, put it in a live mobo for 'live flashing' as it were....anyone shoot me the link for the post.

Have a friend who powered off whilst flashing an asus a7n8x deluxe mobo by accident...now dead...nothing, no boot/beeps etc.

Thanks in advance.

thanks for the link...
im sure ive seen a step by step thing here somewhere..

does this sound right..

check both mobos of same make type and rev number.
download latest bios file and make bootable floppy and put flash utility and bios file on disk
boot good pc from bootable disk and begin flash procedure
At the point where pc asks for confirmation to commence flash, withdraw good bios chip VERY CAREFULLY and replace with dead bios chip VERY CAREFULLY
flash bios
shutdown
remove bios chip and place into 'dead' mobo, replace original bios chip
rebuild dead pc and boot...hope 4 the best!!!

I mobos do not have to be the same nor do they have to be from the same manufacturer. They only need to be the EXACT same type and size BIOS chips.

I flashed an Abit BH-6 BIOS using an Abit BP-6 mobo and it worked fine.
