I'm running a A7N8X with a Geil Dual Channel stup 2 sticks 256 MB.

If I get on 512mb stick and put it in the third slot what will that do for me?

Will slow it down or speed it up :confused:

No difference, probably. Put the 512MB stick in the odd slot and the two 256MB sticks in the others.
