Okay, so I got this new mobo, built my new comp, started it up, tried to get on the internet, and nothing, no PC light on the modem, no blinky DATA light...checked the BIOS, made sure I in fact enabled the LAN, and the Boot LAN ROM whatever options, made sure the correct adapter drivers were installed for Windows, made sure it was configured correctly, and all was kosher, but the modem just does not want to work with this adapter. Anyone with the same problem, or could pass on words of wisdom/advice?

Unplug the modem power and let it sit for 30 minutes.

Welcome to SysOpt! :D
DSL or Cable Internet? Did you do a clean install of your OS after installing the MB?

Yeah, I did a clean install of Windows...and it's a cable modem, Toshiba PCX2500 or something...

Try to take out the MOBO and put it back in, something could be not letting the LAN plug work properly, do the plugs next to the LAN work properly?

Is there anyway you can check the modem with another PC or laptop? Did you try a new Cat5 cable (from the modem to PC)? Did you do as BipolarBill suggested -- unplug the modem to reset it? Try disabling the onboard LAN and re-enable it? Try a new/different NIC? Clear CMOS? Update the BIOS? Good luck! :D

Not gonna take out the mobo, no point. Direct, I've got my old NIC adapter installed on the same comp right now, so the modem works with other modems. I've tried unplugging the modem, but not for as long as what Bipolar suggested. I've tried disabling and re-enabling it, more than once, and I've cleared the CMOS. No workie. Updated the BIOS to the latest release. I have NOT tried a new cable though, no time to go out and get one. And would a new cable really make a difference? It's all the same, right?

Not sure what that means? Can you get online with your old NIC?

Ahh, makes sense now. :D Sounds like a bad MB, RMA it if you can. Good luck! :D
