I want to install a new Mitsumi 8 X 4 CD burner (write only). Can I retain my existing
CD (4X) and copy from it to the new unit? How
do I hook up? I have an empty IDE controller socket on my MB (P120 Ultinet).
Also: Quite often when I insert a floppy into my 1.44 drive it causes a reboot, or, worse, a lockup. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The old CD leave it as it was.
Install the CD-R as its manual is saying (I suppose you have a manual...). It will get another drive letter than the old CD.
Just run a program for making a CD (like Easy CD Creator) and it will "see" both CD drives. Make the old CD for source and the CD-R for destination and here you go!
One more thing could be the digital input/output.Ask if so.
As for the floppy problem, try the cable to see if it is well seated, or even borow another drive and see if you have the same problem.

If you want to keep both drives you can either run them as master/slave or connect each to a seperate IDE Controller. If you run them master/slave, you'll probably have to change the jumpers on the back of the drive.
