Recently when I have been loading up Outlook Express Windows Messenger has been loading up automatically in the background. No icon appears in the taskbar. The only way I know it's on is by looking at task manager (but usually someone has already messaged me!)
How do I stop it from loading up in the background?
Thanks

There are 2 types of "Messenger" in Windows, how you disable them is dependant on what OS your using and which one is causing you grief! answers on a postcard please.

Go to C:\program files\messenger
Delete the following two .exe files:
msmsgsin.exe
msmsgs.exe
It can't run if the .exe isn't there.
That messenger is pesky...
There is also an option in OE to not use messenger when OE starts...but, I've yet to see that be the case.
Edit
OE, tools, options
uncheck automatically log on to windows messenger.

Whooooaaa...
Wait a minute.
Strawbs...think he's talking about windows messenger...not the service from what it sounds like.
Are you using messenger OR MSN Messenger? If so...don't do what I mentioned above.
If you're not using either, first...uninstall MSN messenger from control panel/add-remove programs.
Then do what's listed above...
