I don't see anything in this review to change my opinion that this case is of a "gaudy" design, The window just makes the internal design abomination highly visible to all and sundry and the flashing "Thermaltake" logo is not something I would be proud of ...A good basic design should never need such obvious and blatant self promotion :yuk:, Better to leave it blank and give the buyer a set of sticky labels that they could use to design their own custom decal\lettering.

I appologise to those that find this case attractive ( :eek: ), This is a personal opinion and if you are the type that finds "bare grey metal" something to behold, more power to you! I would never buy something so ugly ... but each to their own I s'pose.

Im w/ya sonic. I definately isnt as aestheically pleasant as some other cases intended for the same buyer group. A good example of fabulous design and stunning exterior is the Cooler Master Wave Master Case (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=11-119-023&depa=1). While I dont actually own this case myself, i think its a much nicer case than our spotlight Thermaltake. One thing I do think thats its missing are the pushlock fan mounts. I have those on my Cheiftec, and it just saves so much time.

I've seen a lot "gaudier" cases than this. Fact is, this is one of the best basic chassis layouts I've seen. For example, I like to set things on top of my case, and be able to reach them. This particular case is only 1 inch taller than it needs to be. The Chieftech Dragon based designs are 3 inches taller than they need to be. And this has 1 more 5.25" bay than those.

My friend has an Antec 1080, basically a rebranded Dragon, and he can't even use an optical drive in the lowest bay: It hits the board. But this case is much longer than his, my full sized board clears my super-long SCSI drive rack by around 3 inches.

And the quality of the materials used is tops, 1.0mm steel, nice thick ABS plastic parts, etc.

I leave the light off. And the red background is dark enough that it goes unoticed, since there's a shadow across the face.

I like the side panel. I have no use for a clear side panel, and would just as soon have black, but the parts inside are no uglier than any other case.

I believe the Coolermaster Wave cost over 50% more than this solid steel unit.

That's right, I leave the front panel light off.

I have always like the funtionality of the case but not the look of it. If they toned it down a tad I might get it.

You could tone this one down on your own, completely. Get the 7000+ with solid side panel, disassemble the front cover (it's screwed together), paint the red part black, and re-assemble it. The only flash then is the sticker (which you can leave unlit) and the knobs (which look fine in my opinion).
