Win Xp Help
I had windows xp on me hard drive, then the windows file became corrupted.

I reinstalled xp over the orginal xp....

The files etc are still there and my documents from the previous version are still there.

Because of privelges for some reason i can not get access to them.. I am admin on this xp and was on the previos xp...

How can i get access to these files????

Someone mentioned something about a CD you can burn or something!!

NEED HELP

Well, all you needed to do was to repair:

Save that for future reference.

Most likely, all you need to do is create another Administrator account with matching name and password. If that fails, you must take ownership of the folders:

One thing you need to remember in XP is that you do not always get the security tab. If you do not see it following the steps from the Microsoft link that BPB provided, shut off simple filesharing.

Open My computer, click the "tools" menu, click "folder options", click the view tab, at the bottom of the list you can uncheck "Use Simple Filesharing (Recommended)" , click OK. You can then see the secutirty tab to take ownership of files.

You can turn it back on when you are done or leave it off. Up to you.
