Ok, I unknowingly destroyed by brand new Radeon 9200SE a while ago. I bought it a futureshop (which of course was a mistake). I didn’t know anything about video cards when I did buy it, so I didn’t know what happened when it stop working, it was very sudden. So I figured it must have overheated, but seeing you can’t return hardware after 30 days I thought I was stuck with it as a paper weight. After talking to countless people and asking many questions. I realized the heatsink was very very loose. And wasn’t even attached to the core (just buy the plastic things holding it on the board). I’m guessing this must be the reason it overheated. Now my problem is, will futureshop take back this product because it wasn’t manufactured correctly and is a dud/lemon, or will they stick by there 30 day policy and force to me to keep this inferior product.

if the product was retail packaged and came with a warrenty you can return it to ATI and they will give you a new one :p , as long as its still under warrenty (usually 3 years manufaturers warrenty after the 30 day retail store warrenty expires)

most stores dont let ya even before the 30 days, usually they let you exchange it for the same item before the 30 days are over but thats the most they would do :( (unless you buy from newegg they let you get your money back but charge a restocking fee)
sometimes stores charge a 15%-25% restocking fee which is alot if its a $100+ item thats $15-$25 off ... but thats because the item is no longer considered "new" so they cant sell it for the same as a new one

I would say replacement is your best option. Check with Future$hop and see if they'll do replacement and return the defective card for you. If not, get in touch with ATI and follow their RMA process.
The only way to get your money back would be from FutureShop and I don't see that happening on a open, used and defective product that is past 30 days.
