Problem with hooking up to new links and opening new pages?

When ever I try to open up a new page, or open in a new window I have to stop it and hit go from address bar to get the page to open. If I dont it will just keep spining the little search box with no page displayed.

I was wondering if it could be a setting in options somewhere.

Seeing as it's IE, checking for spyware would be a good start if you haven't already:

I did run spybot and adaware, however I had no good results from that.

Try clearing the cache.
Go to Tools->Internet Options->General tab and click on Delete Files. Check the "Delete all offline content" and click OK. Shut the browser down, then restart it.
