It's about time it comes on Linux! :p rip_1956 03-08-2004, 09:19 AM It will be interesting to see if Linux becomes as popular a choice for Flash developers like it did for animation. Especially since it would be a bigger jump for the Flash world to make the move than the animation folks who were already using Unix. The Linux app I am waiting for is one that would allow a desktop to act as a client to a MS Exchange server. At work, I need to see our Exchange server for Outlook, etc. For all other tasks I would rather be on Linux. Since I support various Unix servers, the native X support means I do not have to rely on emulation such as Reflection-X to use the Unix system gui tools. Currently there are a few Linux programs such as Novell's Ximian Connector which do work with Exchange, but these programs cost around $100 per seat license, so I am stuck with Win2k for now. The problem lies not with Linux; it is probably because MS does not like to share it's secrets with the Open Source world. And MS would probably find a way to charge a client access license for anyone accessing the Exchange server anyway. bob05 03-08-2004, 08:25 PM Originally posted by rip_1956 it is probably because MS does not like to share it's secrets with the Open Source world.
