Have just finished building new system. abit nf7-s v2 mobo, amd 3200 chip, 1 gb pc3200 ddr, rad 9700 pro, 160+120 gb SATA drives, dvd rw,cd rw....

Upgraded from asus mobo as it couldnt support both cpu and memory running at 200fsb at same time...old revision pcb/northbridge.

Was running cpu at 200 and memory at 166 no probs.
After looking around and posting here i went for the abit mobo, but just cant get it to work correctly...

No matter how I set the bios, the cpu is always shown as a 1100, the soft menu bios says it is a athlon 1100 running at 11x100

the bios gives me the otion of two cpus, a 2500 or 3200 ( i suppose becaus of the 11x multiplier ) however when i pick the 3200, i get an error saying cpu unworkable or changed please check soft menu.

Any ideas?

Try one stick at a time. Will it take the 166 multiplier of the 2500 with both sticks in or have you tried that yet?

Clear CMOS according to your manual and try setting up BIOS again.

Same problem, when it says that just click F1 and pass it, you should not see that again

If I do that, when I run cpu id or any other program that shows pc's workings, shows cpu as 1100 still...

The memory is quite happily running at 200fsb.

Do you think its a bios problem or perhaps...a faulty mobo...ouch!

Wait a minute, you said your CPU is locked at 11 so the only choice you are getting is FSB. Is there a jumper on that motherboard that runs the FSB at 100 (safe mode) or unlocked at 133/166/200? It will not allow anything but 100 if the jumper is set to safe mode.

Also, Nforce2 motherboards are picky about memory. I would still recommend thoroughly testing the memory if possible.

Have you used the Abit "flash menu" to update your bios to the latest version ? The latest version should end in "22".
There is no 100Mhz safe mode jumper on that board Rob. Or at least not on the version 2.0 that I have running right now.

Also you have the option of using "user define" instead of letting the soft menu do it for you and then you can manually set the multipliers and FSB for your board and CPU.

Set the PSB to 3200XO specs, then save, when the window says CPU unworkable just bypass if it still says 1100, then try clearing the CMOS, and repeating the same steps

The only thing i havent tried so far guys is a bios flash...have just recieved rma notice from overclockers.co.uk....not sure whether to just flash the bios and go for it or package up the board and just rma it....
the bios may work and if it does i get my pc up n running real quick...
if the flash doesnt cure the problem, they may say ive ballsed it up trying to flash.....:(

Set mem to auto and not "spd" or manual. Boot to 166/200 again, then reboot to bios and try "auto" @ 200/200.
