I've done a virus scan from Symantec's web site on a computer in preparation for installing an anti-virus product.
It has come up with 96 infected files, the majority being W32.Dupator.1503. The removal instructions at Symantecs web site tell me to use their DOS tool, navdx.exe, but NAV is not currently installed.
I have a version of navdx on an old NAV installation CD but I suspect it is too old to know about this particular virus. I'm assuming that I can't get virus signature updates without having NAV installed.
Considering the number of infected files and the number of different programs infected it will be a considerable investment of time to attempt to delete all the infections and reinstall.
Does anyone know of an alternate removal tool for this virus or have any suggestions for another approach to this problem?
It's a WinME system by the way.
Thanks
