Is there a way to reset the network connections on a Windows XP Pro machine? Me and my neighbour are trying to set up a network. I can see the shared docs and printer on his computer, but he can't see my shared docs and printer.

There is No Reset remedy; you have to set your Shares correctly.

did you add his username and password to your system? authentication must match for him to use resources on your computer.
