A friend of mine has an Asus A7V333-XL. And he just swapped out a 2400+ and put in a 2800+. When he had the 2400 in the board the voltages were fine. When he put the 2800 in the v-core stays at 1.85. In the bios the v-core is manullay set at 1.65 but in the bios health page it reports it as 1.85. When hes' in windows his asus probe says it has a v-core of 1.85 also. Also his idle temp are between 48-50 C. That's with a thermaltake slim volcano 10+ and artic silver 5. Any ideas? Bad cpu?

Write down your settings and try retuning the BIOS to the default settings ("Load default settings"). Good luck! :D

Tried clearing the CMOS, load defaut settings, load optimized settings. But it still lists it as 1.85 v-core no matter what voltage you manully set it at, even if you leave it at default.

That's strange? Maybe it's a bad CPU? Is there a BIOS update for the MB?

Just flashed to the latest BIOS. It made no differance. Still at a 1.85 v-core. Think it may be time to call newegg?

Guess what? Found out my friend moved a jumper on the board that "unlocks" higher voltages. Moved the jumper back and all is well. :D
