Well i just got a new job, making double what i was making before. :t

I bought a Radeon 9200SE 128mb card a few months ago and its been ok, its all i could afford, but im starting to get into gaming a lot more and i find the 9200 is not up to the task. Id really like somthing a lot better. Im looking at a few cards, ATI only. the Radeon 9600XT or the Radeon 9800Pro. I was reading the specs for them and i tell ya most of the stuff i had no idea what it all does. Anyways i have read reviews for them all, but i like to hear the thoughts and opinions of users.

Thanks.

If its a choice of either of those 2 cards, then go with the 9800pro. Or if you can really afford it, the 9800XT.
The 9800XT is currently the fastest video card out, right now.
Plus, the 9800XT will last you for at least a couple of years. Until games start requiring something faster. Heck, games right now really don't require anything as fast as the 9800XT. But, at least you wouldn't have to upgrade your video card anytime soon.

Uhm, might want to post your system specs so we know what the new video card will go with. You don't want to buy a 9800pro or XT and have it in a system with only a 1Gig processor.

Well the 9800 Pro is the best and can be had for $212, but if you only have $150 to spend then get a 9600XT, but the 9800 Pro it noticeably better

I'd go with a 9800 Pro, u can have one for just over $200 from newegg... I'd stay away from the XT simply because the small performance boost just doesn't justify the price increase... You can get two Sapphire 9800 Pro's for the price of one XT. And the processor you've got one even take full advantage of the Pro, let alone an XT.

Oh yeah... Congrats on the new job! :t

Too bad Newegg does not ship to Canada. By your specs, get the 9600XT (if price difference is significant) and save the extra money for another stick of ram. :t

Yeah i think i will go with a Saphire 9600XT and use the money ill save to get the ram i need. If i find a good deal on a 9800pro ill be sure to pick one up. Thanks for all the help.
