What do you think of it? Bigjakkstaffa 02-26-2004, 12:36 PM Its been out since the weekend. As for the game, simply more of the same in the CM3 mould, though with a lot more options which will please the real wally fans such as extended range of cars and types, including 2WD classes. Controls for wheels seem to be much improved over CM3 (which was so bad it could only be played on keys really) but is still lackign compared to CM2.0 --Jakk:t spyman 02-26-2004, 03:49 PM Originally posted by Bigjakkstaffa Controls for wheels seem to be much improved over CM3 (which was so bad it could only be played on keys really) but is still lackign compared to CM2.0 --Jakk:t [/B] What are you talking about? I thought the Force feedback was great on this game, very nice feel to driving with my wheel, way better than Rallysport Challenge. I hope they at least improved on the crappy gamepad menu interface, one of my only complaints about cm3. I'll pass on the demo download or buying when it comes out unless it's truelly outstanding. I mean how many racing titles can one own!! I have nfp2,3,4, nfphp2, nascar2002, f1 2002,grandprix4, rallisport challenge, toca2, cm2 and 3. Bigjakkstaffa 02-26-2004, 04:38 PM My complaints not with the FF, its the actual control itself with the wheel, it feels like driving a plate of spag bol in comparison to CM2.0, NFS:U and many other titles, the stock calibration of the deadzones etc. for wheels was far too over sensetive IMO and more often than not i found myself going back to the keyboard for the precision control. While the control set up is somewhat more refined in CM4, its still not quite there in comparison to CM2 IMO. As for the menu, its still consoley, but given that even the original Colin McRae Rally had that style of menu interface i dont see why everyone is getting all up tight about it. Personally i'll probably end up gettin this, or Richard Burns Rally, or both, simply because of my love of the sport --Jakk:t DocEvi1 02-26-2004, 05:33 PM I agree with Jakk that it seems to be a CMR3 expansion, but with LAN and internet play, a fantastic damage model (bit harsher would have me very happy), excellent controls and FF and pretty, pretty graphics. I'm quite impressed! Bigjakkstaffa 02-26-2004, 06:52 PM You using a wheel still Stefan? If so you had to tweak the config any? Its markedly better in CM4 than CM3, but it just seems that little too sensetive for me still :( --Jakk:t DocEvi1 02-26-2004, 07:58 PM I'm using a Logitech Momo. I found that the steering has a little bit too much dead-zone and has too much play for my tastes. What might be the difference is I know drive a twitchy little sports car with short steering - it could be that my attitude to steering is different to yours... then again, I like my games positive and not to require full lock on the wheel. spyman 02-27-2004, 12:15 PM I really like the over sensitivity feeling of cm3. It seems to emulate what real rally drivers feel. Ever watch how much playin those guys have to do with the wheel to keep it on the road they are constantly moving the wheel back and forth to correct over and under steer.. The steering in this game is about as realalistic as it gets IMO for rally racing anyways. At least on my wheel. I'm sure all wheels feel different. I don't know how anyone could enjoy playing this game or any racing with a keyboard! I love my keyboard for almost all games but I just can't get into a racing game with the dead feeling of pushing buttons on a keyboard. Rabbitrunner51 02-28-2004, 02:44 AM I just played this demo and it is alot like the 3rd one ..but with better graphics and ..it is quite good actually.. If a person likes this type of racing...this is a must buy. 10 cars + 48 tracks + Mulytiplayer ( which I would be into ) ..looks like alot for your money...again the graphics are very good and realistic..... I made a world record on two of the offered tracks right away with keyboard only....only because I am pretty good at racing games in general ( have quite a few ) A game controller would be nice to play this as long as it wasn't set too sensitive ( with all the sliding around and everything ) scottluebke2003 02-28-2004, 06:39 AM I played the demo of CM3, and I was very disappointed with the graphics. I turned it all up too. Anyone else disappointed with the graphics? Bigjakkstaffa 02-28-2004, 06:55 AM Graphics are very good, CM3 and CM4 are th eonly games which trouble my R9800 Pro at 1024x768x32, 8xAF, 2xAA - though i dont think they will be up to Richard Burns Rally standard when that rolls around (that looks well sweet, water gathering in potholes in the road after rain on the stages, animals and spectators in the roads etc...class) --Jakk:t Rabbitrunner51 02-28-2004, 07:12 AM Jak..I don't understand why your top end card 9800Pro would have any problems with this in that mode.... I have a FX5900 card and th egraphics are very good at 1024X768. What is it doing? I have mine set on 8x with 4x analaising I saw that promo for Richard Burns Rally...is it a new game that's coming out...never heard of it before.. Bigjakkstaffa 02-28-2004, 07:37 AM I have all the draw distances, etc in game up at top whack as well as running Vsync (which cuts FPS dramatically no matter what). Its nto the game runs slow at these levels but you can feel frames being dropped when going through densley detailed track areas such as the close treeline sectiosn in the Finland stage. Its not enough of a complaint to warrant relaxing the graphical settings, but its the only game yet to put such a strain on this card/system --Jakk:t NDD 02-28-2004, 12:20 PM 95% finished on the title screen ;) :t PlatoonSgtElias 03-02-2004, 12:02 AM And where is Markko Märtin? WHERE IS ESTONIA in the selection board? I mean...
