This is quite weird I know, being worried about Windows XP not playing the Intro sounds when I log in.

Basically, I've noticed recently that my version of XP pro doenst play the intro sound OR the exit sound even tho they are selected to play in the sound options.

Like I say, a little strange that it concerns me, but would be interesting to solve this little problem!

Cheers,

Neil.

Go to the sounds and multimedia util on the control panel and you can see what sounds are ascibed to windows actions from there. Set it to a different sound and see if it works. If it does, the sound files are likely to be missing or corrupt that are associated with the startup and shutdown. Is the sound working apart from that though?

Personally, the fanfare for windows starting is too dramatic. It hasn't done anything clever yet, just come on, so why the da-daaa?

The sounds work on another profile just not mine, and yeah all assigned correctly.

Sound works fine in general.

Any other ideas?

Try re-assigning them to other sounds and see if they work.
