Great idea
As long as there is "STRICT" controls over
what gets posted in there.
I have seen a couple of rooms , (even adult one's)destroyed by inconsiderate filthy pigs (which I have not seen here )
But I am all for the chat room idea !

Ya, cool, one idea...set up 1 or 2 chatrooms for every forum topic (like 2 for overcloking and cpus, 2 for motherboards), limit them to like 35 people, I would doubt if reseler ratings or user to user need 2 each, but perhapse 1 betweeen the 2 of them, and then set up like 3 in the general section with limits like 75 people. That would be the best chat room setup in my oppenion, oh, and can you filter words, like sh*t, f**k, posser, etc...

P.S. I agree with STRICT controls. I can't stand some, well alot of what I see in chat rooms. One other thing, as previously stated we should keep with the spirit of the particular room and not get in to using these to just talk.

Man..go on vacation and then there are SO MANY messages on the BBS to read. oh well, I started with this one.
I agree, a chat would be nice...but would it take place of much of the conversation that goes on in these posts?
My vote is YES, and I even have a reccomendation for a chat room app. I saw on www.javaboutique.com an applet that connects to an IRC server. I reccomend effnet because of its popularity, but I think dalnet would be safer and have less risk of a channel takeover.

Very good idea! Now people will be able to get help in real time insted of watiting for someone to check the BBS and post a reply.

Even though I probably won't be able to use it much (I usually at work when I'm visiting this site), I vote yes. There are times when more immediate help is needed and the manufacturers usually put you on hold, even on their emergency help lines!

So, once again - YES! A chat room would be a very good idea, just be sure that it is controlled. This site has a reputation as a clean site. Let's not muck it up!

I have to question the use of anything to do with JAVA(yuk). All of my experiences with Java shows me that it is slow to use. Are there any other formats available?

Well, the thing about my idea:
Using an IRC based chat client would be very efficient because you can login via the browser, or use an IRC client like mIRC http://www.mirc.com or a ne wone called Klient http://www.klient.com .
