Windows 95 does not recognize my UDMA Quantum
harddrive. Device manager shows a generic type disk #47. To fully utilize UDMA of my hard drive can I install disk manager software from Quantum at any time and not lose the programs that I already have installed in windows? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

As far as I am aware, it is nothing to do with your hard disk software (don't use the Quantum stuff - it's for LBA, etc - and if your computer already 'sees' the full capacity of the drive, you don't need it). It's more to do with your chipset and it's ability to recognise UDMA. If you have an Intel chipset, check out their site for the appropriate Bus Mastering and PCI/IDE drivers, download them and install (make sure they're the right ones for your chipset). Also, check to see if you need to enable UDMA in your BIOS.
