Anyone know if spending more for a Asus would really be worth it?

$210 is alot of money, but asus have a good reputation for quality. There are other good manufacturers out though, abit, sparkle, msi and crucial who all have similar offerings, even this (http://www.overclockercafe.com/Reviews/VGA/Connect3D_Radeon9600XT/)

Asus make good stuff, but i honestly cant see it being THAT much better than anything BBA/Sapphire could do, similar things go for Hercules

Its nice, i think asus makes good stuff too, but when you can buy a saphire 9800pro for that much, i dont really think its worth that much.

Ya for only $5 more you can get a Sapphire 9800 PRo, I think it is just the name and the nice color;)

While Asus makes quality components, I do feel that generally that it is a company where you are paying a bit for the name, not the actual product. They do make good products, just not at the cost they generally run for IMO at least. For for a Spahire or BBA.

I was worried about this when I bought my video card, so I did a lot of looking and review searching, etc. I ended up buying a PowerColor Radeon 9700. It was about $40 cheaper than anyone elses, and every review I found noticed very minimal differences between manufacturers. I think the more important factor is in company support and warrenties/etc. from what I've found. I've been very happy with mine, and perform on par with what I should for the chip I'm running.

If you're going to spend that much, get the SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9800PRO Video Card, 128MB DDR, 256-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-268&catalog=48&depa=0) -- $215 USD shipped.

This would be my second choice... SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON 9600XT Video Card, 128MB DDR, 128-bit, DVI/TV-Out, 8X AGP (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-326&catalog=48&depa=0) -- $151 USD shipped.

It's all about want you want to spend. If your a heavy gamer -- spend the extra $64 for the 9800Pro. Good luck! :D

That's a "one day sale" Yoshi, buy it now if you want that price. It will go back up after the sale ends tomorrow. Good luck! :D
