Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Download problems since latest security update
I have been trying to downlaod Mozilla, and this message keeps coming up.
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system Administrator. "
It also seems to come up whenever the download is not from a "secure dowload site". Tried "gpedit.msc" but could not see anything that was enabled that is even remotely connected to this
This security thing is getting very rediculous!!!!
Thanks,
Mule

IS this on a work or a personal computer? If its a works computer you will probably fidn the network managers have put a policy in place to prevent the downloading of .exe's to prevent malicious code getting into the system

Sorry, just frustrated I Guess
This is my own PC. I installed WinXP Pro a few weeks ago. It worked fine (after a few problems with a bios update and not a powerful enough ps) for the last week until the last Security update. I am logged on as computer administrator.
Specs:
Epox EP-8KTA2L mobo
AMD Duron 1100mhz,
1-IBM 5400rpm 40GB hd
1- Maxtor 5400rpm HD
512mb (2-256mb sticks) pc133 Spectek
256mb pc133 Kingston Value Ram (1-256mb sticks)(total 768mb)
ATI Raden 9200 128mb video
HP Cd-Writer plus 9300 Series (Master)
Lite-on-it DvD-rom (slave)
WinXP pro
Where and how do i find anything that might have been put in place?
Thanks,
Mule

If youve checked gpedit you could try seeing if local security policy is holding anything ('secpol.msc' from the run dialog), this is a new one to moe for a user with administrative policies, if i wer eyou i would have a dig around using google and see if anything similar comes up

Have you tried using System Restore?
"Have you tried using System Restore?"
I did that about 3 hours ago, it resolved the problem :D. I have not tried the update again as I restored to a date prior to the update. I will post back after if there is a problem.
By the way, I downloaded Mozilla. IT IS AWESOME!!! :D

sounds like the site you were connecting to used passwords in the url. you're not the only one with problems. some applications over SSL are still doing that.
