Just coz its a fake doesn't mean that it has any less an impact. The surfer was stuck in afterwards and as you can see, the tail is horizontal, not vertical.

I think most swimmers would be stunned at how many sharks they share nearby waters with. Just about all attacks are due to mistaken identity, as soon as the shark realises that the person isn't a nice fat seal they will generally let go.
The problem is that sharks use their very sensitive mouths to help them make this decision including their teeth to help guage the depth of blubber.

I have a severe phobia of sharks.

When I was younger 16 or so, I wen't snokeling in Cali with my dad, I was swimming so close to him he kept whacking me in the face with his flippers.
