I have a SMC 2404WBC Barricade Turbo router. I have 2 others networked with wireless USB plugs. I can play online and I can purchase online with my credit card ( I use a low credit limit card when I shop online ). I can access my Hotmail and Earthlink accounts on both wireless pc's. I also have Zone alarm on those two pc's. I don't know why, but I leave Zone alarm on those Pc's because it does not seem to be hindering my use on them. The problem I'm having is on the pc where the hardware is actually wired. My main pc is in my room and I have the outside cable routed to the pc. All is good as far as websurfing and online game play. I can go into my Yahoo email and Juno which require login and password key entries. However, if I try going into my Earthlink and or Hotmail accounts I get the usual "The page cannot be displayed" message. As if I was not on the internet. It happens when I try to buy something online that is secure. Like I said before, on my 2 other wireless pc's I do not seem to have this problem. I've disables Zone alarm on this pc and I have called tech support at SMC. However the girl who tried helping me was sounded middle eastern or pakistanian because it was difficult at best to make out what she tried to tell me. I did everything that she requested. And that was to verify that an open port existed. But the fact that the other 2 pc's were able to get into these sites and do online buying. Seemed to indicate that everything was working fine. Just it seemed on my unit it was not allowing this pc to access those ports. Is this a common problem on routers or this one? Or is this problem unique for this model? The tech support woman made a stupid comment before we hanged up. She recommended that I try a tech forum where others could troubleshoot and possibly help me solve my problem. I knew that I could always come here and ask for help. But I was calling SMC becuase I figure that SMC hires people that are somewhat familier with the products they sell!!! Even if it's just by flipping thru pages and seeing it for the first time!!!!! She was a total moron!!!!! I feel like calling them again becuase the steps that she recommended seemed to have limited my internet travels to even more websites than before on this pc!!!! I had to re-register my pc to get back to the same old problems I had from the beginning. Thanks in advance for any tips. Laterz. :t
