Okay...dumb question time.
I have 3 PC's and a laptop on my home network. 3 are XP Pro and 1 is Win server 2003. From any one to another, I cannot send a NET SEND message. I receive the error that the message alias could not be found, and that I can find more info by typing net helpmsg 2273.
I've checked the MSKB and have come up empty. I'm not blocking this on any of the PCs. I am using a LinkSys wireless router, but I don't see why that would block anything.
Any ideas here?

Do you have "Messenger" service running?

Probably should have mentioned that. Yes, the messenger service is running on each computer. I have not intentionally blocked anything or disabled any services that would cause this.

try sending the message using the ip address. If it works it could be a NetBEUI (or NetBios, i can't remember) issue.

Already tried that too. I tried sending to the computername and the IP address. All NET SEND attempts produce the same error.

I was having the same problem as you, all I had to do was stop and start the System Services called "Remote Procedure Call" and "Messenger" again.
I don't know if I'm being accurate because my XP is Brazilian Portuguese, but you can find those services in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
That's all there is to it.
Hope it works for ya.

Your entire system depends on RPC being active
I doubt that will fix it!
Have you searched the knowledgebase yet and made sure the firewalls is/are switched off?
Error 2273: Windows reports that the target user is not logged on to any computer.

Hey there Tantone...how've ya been?
I know you mentioed your router, but you don't happen to have Norton IS running on any/all of them, do ya??
This is another dumb question...but, do you have the XP built in firewall turned off at the network connections?
