Hi all.
Well i just got my new Ti4600-8X from Newegg today, installed it and applied the Omega 43.45 drivers. Every things is fine except that for some reason all the programs i have, Sisoftware ( Sandra), Fresh diagnose, and even the xp's device manager is all saying that my card is a Ti4800?? Not a Ti4600?? The box it came in and manual say its a Ti4600????? So whats the deal? Does anyone know why this is? Did i luck out and get a higher Ti--- or is the Ti4800 not so good and i was jipped by Newegg? Oh and another thing is that the Box it came in did not have any wrapping ( shrinkwrap ) around it? It was just an open box? Is this normal?
Ok well thanks all for any help.

from the sounds of it you got a OEM card( no drivers just the card in a box) and someone switch the cards. awsome for you, sucks to be the guy who gets the ti4600 when he pays for the 4800 :P

i woudlnt say anything, but thats just me

What's the core\memory speed on that Ti 4800?

Well the Manual says its 300/650mhz but how do i check this? Is there some program that i need in order to be sure that this card is 300/650mhz?
Thanks

The 4800 is a 4600 with an AGP 8x interface, that is the only real change IIRC. Not going to make any difference in gaming. If you want to know your speeds download rivatuner (you can alsp OC with this utility) from www.guru3d.com

Ok i downloaded RivaTuner and checked what it had to say and its reporting that my core speeds ( is that what its called? ) is 297/324mhz ( 648.000mhz Effective ) now my card is suppost to be 300/650mhz . So is this normal for it to be showing a couple of points off? and what does it mean by 648.000mhz "Effective"?
Thanks all for any info.

Yes, the slight discrepancy in the core speed's normal, don't worry about it. The "effective" memory speed is referring to the fact that the memory's DDR (Double Data Rate) - it's actually running at ~325MHz but because DDR uses a trick with the clock signals, it's "effectively" transferring twice the data compared to SDRAM, hence the ~650MHz. It's more marketing than anything else really - those big numbers look good ;)
