I was on the XP update site and i saw this. Im not realy sure what its for. I know its not a driver.
"ATI Technologies Inc. display software update released on December 12 2003."

It is a driver. A Bare bones driver with no OGL support.

I have XP and an ATi 9700Pro, how is it I've never seen this (given the date)? does it only load for those with the basic MS driver installed?

Yup, you'd have to either have a really old driver or the driver XP installs by default.

Smae thing for me, i just ignored it, i think its very possibly due to the date on that driver (24th December 03 - or similar) being newer than the date on my current drivers, the Cat 3.7's, which have been knowcking around for some time.
I just follow my general rule of thumb where windows update is concerned, if it aint broke, dont fix it...and if you msut fix it, try not to use windows update :p;)
