packardbell computer

this computer came with a cdrom drive and a harddrive installed on the same IDE channel,win95 was preinstalled from the factory but there were some problems with the drivers it loaded at startup(autoexec.bat)in order to startup the cd-rom and win95.so i thought installing win98 would solve the problem but it didn't,then i checked the bios and the cd-rom is installed as the master drive and the harddisk as the slave(i'm really starting to hate packardbell
for this careless desings)i'm wondering if putting the harddisk as master and cd-rom as slave would solve the problem or if putting the cd-rom on its own channel would also solve this problem?

I would think it would be best to have the hardrive as master on the primary ide channel and the cdrom as master on the secondary ide channel.

I started hatting packard bell a long time ago, I hate them now, and I will continue to hate them as long as they make crappy and unupgradable computers.

I have to agree with JT, Seems like Packin Bell has been throwing PC's together just for the sake of grinding them out. When I have a customer bring in a Packin Bell I tell them that it will be $80.00 an hour. If they leave it I take it to a Packin Bell shop. I hate workin on Packin Bells. The fact that they made the CD the master and the hard drive would make me suspicious of some other problem that they might have been trying to cover up in manufacturing.
