Double check to Make sure the IDE cable is hooked up right.
Check jumper on cd and see if it is set for master If it is all alone on the cable or slave it it is sharing the cable with another device.

Try a different driver such as the fairly universal "vide-cdd.sys" driver, which is downloadable here..http://www.computercraft.com/cd_drivers/cdromdrivers.html

what you will need to do is copy the vide-cdd.sys file to the boot floppy..then edit the config.sys file. Where it says..... device=oakcdrom.sys /d:mscd001 ...change the "oakcdrom.sys" to say "vide-cdd.sys". Like this... device=vide-cdd.sys /d:mscd001

If that doesnt work, maybe you can try a different driver off that page and modify the config.sys file as I showed. Just make the name in that line match the name of the driver file you copy to the boot floppy.

If that doesnt work, you could try to download a different bootdisk from here...http://www.bootdisk.com./

If that doesnt work, you will probably have to find the exact brand of CD-Rom you are dealing with and then find the exact driver to match that CD-Rom from the manufacturers website.

Good Luck!

Juddski, are you trying to install Win95?, if so, I have a boot disk for Win95 already setup to find a cd rom drive, and I believe it will work with most cd drives. I can zip it up and email it to you, and all you should have to do is un zip it to a blank floppy disk.

I also have one for Win98 if that is needed.

Actually, I think either would work sence no dos type has been installed yet. That comes with the OS.
