Hi Everyone!
I have been have some problems with my new system In the last week or so with my new graphics card and older games. When I
installed Medal Of Honor,Delta For Black Hawk Down and Battlefield 1942 using my new Asus Geforce FX5950 the refresh rates are HORRBILE it's like playing game on a LCD when u move side to side and stuff you see ripples accross the screen I have tried everything changing monitor refresh rates, updating and reinstalling drivers/dx9 is there any know issues? I mean it runs nice on all the new games but older games are brutal my ti4600 was better and also a Nvidia power indicator always pops up when I boot into windows saying there isnt enuff power going to the card,I originally had it on th same cable as the 2 HD's and then gave the card it's own power source directly from the power supply and then when I restarted it worked and didn't say anything and then everytime after that It started to say
the same thing again! ANYONE PLEASE HELP AND SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE! here are my new system specs:

You need to enable vsync. If the games in question doesn't offer the setting you need to download rivatuner to enable vsync. I'm not sure why nvidia doesn't have the optin under D3D settings.

Refresh rate settings for D3D are right under 'Direct 3D Settings' in Display Properties.

I should have read your original post better, sorry

" and also a Nvidia power indicator always pops up when I boot into windows saying there isnt enuff power going to the card,"

Do you know if you can borrow a higher watt rated PSU off somebody? since if that message is popping up and you're getting poor performance it's very likely the problem.

Usually if a system is lacking power the game will quit back to XP...or the whole system will just shut-off suddenly. I have never seen or heard of bad frame rates from not enough power. In saying that...its well woth ching you system with another PSU if you can get one.

Hey Gino....nice system by the way.

FYI- there are two places to set it (for GeForce owners) and from your original post it sounds like you set Window's 'Monitor' tab.

Where's the other place? I looked throughout the NVIDIA control
panel and didn't see anything... thanks

Under the 'Direct3D Settings' subcategory (on the left extended menu) you'll see 'Refresh Rate Overrides'.:t

I've heard of ATI's making it into windows but not able to do any 3D with the underpowered notice popping up in the BIOS. Haven't kept up as much with the nvidia side, but it could be possible for both cards, the GPU is just getting barely enough juice to keep the higher usage up and eventually the PSU burps or it decides it needs more and hiccups. Nvidia's do take up a bit more than ATI's (about 15-20 watts) IIRC, so you need a solid power supply of 400 watts I'd say if you have a lot of stuff connected and still keep your PSU from running at near max (which isn't good).

Your first problem was taking the 9800XT back in favor of the 5950. You downgraded. Sorry.

It's all Vsync, as I pointed out in the PM. All cards will have tearing to some degree with it disabled. At least in games where the framerate exceeds the monitor's refresh. MOHAA needs to be set via the console in the game.
