I got a new IBM 60 GB drive today, and I want to copy my old drive to the new one. My friend did this thing in DOS where he copied it to the new drive, and didn't go out and buy any software to do it for him. As he is unreachable at this time, I was hoping maybe one of you would know what I'm talking about, and maybe give me some instructions or a link to a site with instructions. I've tried to find a site with it, but can't. If you have any idea what I'm talking about, let me know. Thanks.

i think he probably did an xcopy.
open your self an msdos screen and at the prompt type
C:>xcopy /?
and
C:>copy /?
to see your options. if you decide to this you might wanna do this in msdos mode when you first boot.

Do i put the question marks there or letters? Do I need to partition the drive first or anything? How do I need to physically hook up the drives (Master, Slave, etc.)? I think it was an xcopy, I just want a little more info before I go diving into this alone.

Try this: disk manager (http://www.storage.ibm.com/hdd/support/download.htm) get the Disk Manager 2000 about half way down the page. It will partition, format, and copy your old disk all at once.
Good Luck!

TBobs suggestion of IBM's disk manager works real well and a worthy d/l---it comes with IBM retail drives, I dont buy retail, but the d/l makes it all very simple to get a drive online...

Try using a program called drive2drive. You can find it on the net and download it. It costs $25US. I used it without any problem.
