I'm installing a second hard drive for a friend, and the IDE cables are too short for the case config he has, He only has 2 5" bays and one 3" The original HDD is installed vertically where the fan usually is. I had to mount the new one under the CDROM.
Can I set the Primary Master with the CDROM as Slave on one channle and have the secondary HDD on the other? The new drive will be the primary, which means I will have to do a data transfer.
Also , anyone have experience with the Maxblast software? Is it as easy as it seems?

Im not sure I understand you but...
Yes you can put the new driver on the primary IDE with the CDROM being the slave. Be sure to set the jumpers on the new drive for master. You may want to install the new drive on the second IDE and clone your old drive to it first. You may need to set your old master drivers jumpers to act as a single driver on the secondary IDE.

I'm not sure about the MaxBlast software, but some users say that the MaxBlast software is just plain useless. You could use FDISK and manually partition your HDD. Do a full format after partitioning to use the partitions. :)
