Hey all,

I'm poor and i don't have the money to have my personal website hosted...so I've been doing it from my computer for a while. The only problem is..I haven't been hosting the whole thing becuase you have to access my computer via my IP....which, since it's DHCP..will eventually change.

So when I bought my bright new domain the other day..I set it up to foreward to my IP...the only problem is...all it does is forward it so the address bar is still showing my IP. I really want the whole site to have ..www.blahblah.com/me/ok.html....any ideas how to set it up? Currently all that works is 155.55.55.55/me/ok.html....which I really don't like.

If it's something I have to talk with my hoster about, I'll do that....but I hope I don't have to pay more for that feature...*sigh*

Oh, and mods can move this wherever they want....

Thanks :t

Bah, I'm just going to live with the domain I bought....even if it just redirects...it's not that important to me to pay $10.95 to $25 a year... *shrug*

zoneedit is free man, thats who I have do my redirection, and host my MX record. The only thing I have ever paid for is my backup mail service.

It looks like this got resolved, which is good. :)

But perhaps someone with better grasp of the trade space would like to step in here and explain about the difference between redirection and DNS for self-hosting. Maybe static and dynamic IP cases, too?

I know I would be interested.
