Colleagues:

I'm searching for a USB color printer (inkjet). Nothing fancy, just good color. I'd appreciate any suggestions and real-life hands on opinions.

I'm looking for USB as I'm not interested in buying LPT card... opinions regarding USB interface for printers would also be appreciated.

I'm running 1.4 Ghz TB on Iwill KK266Plus mobo, Win98se.

Thx.

I have a Lexmark Z42 model 2, and despite what some people say, they are GREAT! 2400x1280 res for $50. I have used it heavily since I got it (3-4 months ago) and the cartridges are still over 3/4s full.

Here's the spec sheet for the LexmarkZ42 Color Jetprinter (http://www.lexmark.com/US/Products/printers/techspecs/0,2446,OTJ8MQ==,00.html) for you to make the comparison. Honestly speaking, I can't comment on the Lexmark Printers since I haven't used one...

I have been using an HP832c for two years, and have only put 3 sets of cartridges in it during that whole time. It's connected to the USB port (also has parallel connection) and prints great!!

My brother is running an HP842c on his computer.

a search for this printer last month netted ZERO for less than $165.00 !!!!

If you need a good one, don't let this one get away.

Staples ran out of stock last time for about a month.
The B&M stores Do Not have any more..

These are economical on ink too.

Get Cheap cr1823g color carts, twin pack for $48 at OD and lots of other places

I'd go with HP printers. Lexmark cartriges are very expensive.

"Lexmark Cartridges are very expensive"

Really?

Choice Item Delivery Price Unit Qty.

Hewlett-Packard No. 78 Economy Color Inkjet Cartridge C6578DN
1 day $34.99
Each

Lexmark I5M0120 Color Inkjet Cartridge

1 day
$39.99

Each

They are like $5 more, and I found that the 952C vs. Z42 at highest setting, Z42 uses less ink

Perhaps they changed things Cody. When I had my lexmark cartriges were at least $45. The printers were cheap so I figured they made up the price in cartriges. I liked the printer other than that.
