Hi there!

I'm running 2 video editing studios in different ends of the city. In both studios I have a broadband connection (one DSL, one Cable) and a basic LAN - a broadband router and 4 PCs. I need to link these two studios together through VPN so I can access remote shares and printers.

Most of the PCs are running WinXP - and these are the only ones I care about anyway.

Now, on one end I have DSL which switches IPs 2-3times a week and the cable in the other studio switches IPs 4-5times a year.

I also have a dedicated server in states that has a static ip with a domain etc... It runs RedHat9 and has a 10Mbps link. I can also use this machine in this VPN setup if it will make my life easier

What is the best way to set up VPN to avoid connectivity problems as much as possible.

I'm very new to this and will gladly take any helpful advice.

Thanks!

If you just want to transfer files you could just setup any computer as an FTP server, quick, easy to administer, simple to do.

If however you want internal email (exchange etc) and access to other resources like printers across town you would need to VPN it.

I might be in for some grief here but afaik you would need static IP's on both computers of you would need to keep changing the ip addresses in the VPN setup.

I'm no network expert but seeing as no one else has replied......

I think your routers would also have to support VPN tunnels. I know mine supports up to 2 tunnels at a time.

Not aure on this, as im new to the VPN scene.

What you want is site to site VPN

www.gta.com

I would recommend the Gnatbox pro for both ends!

You get one of the most secure firewalls on the market and best tech support ive ever come across too!
