Hello:

If I buy a USB 2.0 card and plug it into a PCI slot, wouldn't the 480 Mega bits per second be limited to 133 Mbs by the PCI bus?

The PCI bus is actually capable (theoretically) of 133MB/s. There's a big difference between bits (b) and Bytes (B). 480Mb/s = 60MB/s.

All of that aside, the best you'll see from a USB 2.0 drive is about 20MB/s.
