I want to buy a second cheap computer to experiment with. Most computers come with Windows ME but I'd prefer to have 98SE (also in preparation for the A+ exam). Could someone talk me through the process of replacing ME with 98SE. Thanks.

Make a boot floppy, with cdrom drivers on it and the config.sys and autoexec.bat set to load them.

Reboot from the floppy.

Format your C: with the /s option.

Copy over the cdrom drivers and autoexec.bat and config.sys files.

Insert the Win98 CD and reboot. (If you're buying a new machine it should be able to boot off the cd).
