I have a old computer with windows 98, Outlook EXpress has been updated to version 6. I was deleting some files to convert this into a grandkid's game computer and now I can't log into OE. I get this error: Msimn, illegally open will be shut down, contact vendor, Msimn caused an invalid page fault in module WAB32.DLL at 0167:35c4c080, registers: EAX=00370037....etc Is there anything I can do to access this e-mail account. I still have some info in there I want to save. Thanks Foz

yes.

1. All email addresses are kept in the address book, not in OE.
2. All email is kept in database files. Its ina folder like this for win98
c\WINDOWS\Application Data\Identities\{BD8AA340-44E8-11D7-9119-FBA4A38E2739}\Microsoft\Outlook Express

Where that hex value can be anything. You can back those up and uninstall/reinstall OE or I reccomend you go with Mozilla Mail or Eudora Lite. Both of those there can import your mail and address book.

Use the method Bluehail has described and empty out your deleted items folder, you should then regain access to the OE.

To all, I used the info at this link to get OE to open.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=http://support.microsoft.com:80/support/kb/articles/q247/7/06.asp&NoWebContent=1 I also had to D/L eudora.dbx to open files after gettin access to OE. Thanks for the help, Fozj
