Im trying to fix a buddys pc and im thinking that i will have to replace the mobo but i don't want to get into it if there is a possibility that it might be something else.
the mobo is an msi ms-6507 ( i think, the hsf blocks the numbers ) with a P4 1.5GHz or so.
problem is that it doesn't even post, it just lets out one long beep that repeats it self. i checked the beep codes for phenix bios and it doesn't have anything like that. i tried the memory and vid card in another system and they work fine. removed every card and still the same thing.
what i think might have happened is that when he was trying to add memory, he didn't align the notch on the ddr stick and gave it too much force. at which point he permanently bent the mobo. i noticed this when after putting in a stick of ram, it would click in but the contacts in the middle would be mostly exposed.
i took the mobo out of the case and it was actually bent. inserted the ram on a flat surface, and they did get seated properly but the problem is still there.
black screen and a long repeating beep.
is my prediction correct that the mobo is a gonner or is there something that i might have missed?
