I can't access computers on network. I know this is kind of a repatitive post but i've tryed everything i could see in the other posts of this topic.
I have Windows XP. I can ping computers fine. File and Printer sharing is enabled. When I try to look at work group it says that it is unallowed. Computer Browser Service and Workstation are both set to automatic and running curently. Other computers on network see mine but get a error when they try to access me. I can't find computers when I search for them and can't use run command.
I saw somewhere how to rebuild TCP/IP. Do you think that would help? I can't remember how to do it though.
Is there anything else i could try? I've tryed netstat but it was empty. I've tryied netstat /r to see routing tables but it only showed me. I'm searching for ips so dns shouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for help.

All you need to do is log on with an account that is known to the PC you're connecting to. I've covered that over and over and over and...
Add your account to each PC - with password.

What about guest account? shouldn't it log on with guest account. This happened yesterday at a lan also so adding my account to all the computers is not an option. My guest account doesn't have a password, nor do any other of the computers on my personal network. I know how to set guest passwords.
Is there a way my guest account could have been screwed up or anyway that i don't use the guest account on other computers?
On your machine bill do you have the guest account turned on or off? i've always had it turned off and i could still share and get to resources even at lans.

Guest account should be off. It's useless anyway. You can't do anything when logged on as a guest.
Gaming is not what we're talking about. We're talking about sharing resources.

I'm not talking about gameing either. I wanted a few files, namly some windows themes and a overclocking program but i couldn't get to anyones computers over network but the other 15 people were fine.
I had guest account off and couldn't find his ip in search. I have the same problem here, at home.
Guest account worked for a long time and i've used it at lans before but now it doesn't work.
Is there no way to share files at a lan other than seting up a seperate lan account on all of the computers. Whats wrong with the guest account. I know it gives very few rights but all i need to do is get to shared folders.
I'll be gone for a while. I have XP Home so i am going into safemode so i can get to the security tab. I'll be back after a while.
I had another lan the week before and was able to connect to computers over the lan. This lan last night had all the same people with the same switch and everyone but me worked.

I got it going now. I went into safemode and got into the security tab and added the guest user to my shares. I also passworded the guest account.
I think there was also some problems with ZA so i shut it down, i will mess with settings now and get it configured right. When i updated it messed some stuff up i think.
Sorry about the repetative post. I think a full blown article maybe needed to combine all the post and sticky info on this topic. One big long post that can cover everything about users, security tab, firewalls and command prompt commands.

You never mentioned a firewall til now. Don't you think that it's important in networking?

Yeah, i know it's important but i had it working with the za firewall for a year now so it kind of slipt my mind. I didn't think that an update would kill all of my settings but it did. Sorry, my bad.
