share applications between two partitions

Hi folks:

A friend of mine have this question:

He has his HDD divided in three partitions:

C: has installed Windows ME and tha applications.
D: has personal documents and folders
E: wants to install Windows XP.

He wants to know if he can use (execute) the applications installed on C: partition (Win Me) from the Windows XP one (I mean, working on XP using the Windows Me apps), without rebooting the system.

No, he'll have to reinstall the apps for XP - unless they're programs that run without storing settings in the registry.
