I wouldn't bother with the Deluxe - SATA problems galore.
PC2700 Crucial
2600+ Barton
That's if you're not overclocking of course. ;)

deluxe if you need two lan's, great sound and six usb's (sata and firewire included as well)
I got a freind the "lite" version and was not happy with it at all.
no frills needed. lite? are you talking about the 87nx-x here?

the asus A7n8x deluxe has firewire, sata, 2xlan, 6xusb, soundstorm, and a few extra bits.
the asus a7n8x, ( "lite" i would call it) does not have soundstorm, sata or firewire and only one lan, if I remember correctly, it is just a basic board. The reason I sent it back was becuase the sound system was not soundstorm, which I though it would be.

Get the Deluxe A7N8X if only for the Soundstorm audio. It's as good as any $50 soundcard. The rest is gravy.
PC 3200, underclock it at 166 MHz with agressive timings (CAS2). Buy 2 sticks to take advantage of dual channel memory controller.
Barton 2500+.
Have fun.
